This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We plan to add text alternatives when we publish new content and aim to ensure our use of images<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>meets accessibility standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disproportionate burden<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Navigation and accessing information<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not always possible to change the device orientation from horizontal to vertical without<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>making it more difficult to view the content. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(orientation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s not possible for users to change text size without some of the content overlapping. This<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.4 (resize text).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legacy Coding issue within the creation of pages way lead some speech readers may have trouble<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>with the use \u2019em\u2019 or \u2018strong\u2019, or stylesheets, instead of \u2018i\u2019, As WordPress evolves we hope this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>will resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interactive tools and transactions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of our interactive forms are difficult to navigate using a keyboard. For example, because<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>some form controls are missing a \u2018label\u2019 tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigation and accessing information, and with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>interactive tools and transactions. We believe that doing so now would be a&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/uksi\/2018\/952\/regulation\/7\/made\">disproportionate<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>burden&nbsp;within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will review this in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content that\u2019s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PDFs and other documents<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards \u2013 for example,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>they may not be structured so they\u2019re accessible to a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>success criterion 4.1.2 (name, role value).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, and forms published as Word<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>documents. By September 2020, we plan to either fix these or replace them with accessible HTML<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>pages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The accessibility regulations&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/uksi\/2018\/952\/regulation\/4\/made\">do not require us to fix<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018&nbsp;if they\u2019re not essential to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>providing our services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Mapping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Online mapping is excluded from these regulations. However we will provide essential addresses<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>in text format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How we tested this website<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This website is tested annually.
